A native of Gainesville, Georgia, Micah Owings pitched for Georgia Tech in Atlanta, and Tulane University in New Orleans, and was selected in Round 3 of the 2005 MLB Amateur Draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks, reaching the Major Leagues with that team in 2007. Traded to the Cincinnati Reds in 2008, Owings played for the Reds until 2011, when he returned to the Diamondbacks. He pitched for the Major League San Diego Padres in 2012, in the minor league systems of the Milwaukee Brewers and Washington Nationals in 2013, and for the Jacksonville Suns, an affiliate of the Miami Marlins, in 2014. Currently Owings works for the Cincinnati Reds as a Bench Coach for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League.
