Vintage RU Medium-Heavy Action Spinning Reel With Manual PUM. Made In France.

Description

Offering another old reel from France, best used for still fishing, i.e. surf. Often referred to as RU MER; however, Mer is simply French for Salt and not part of the company name. The company was originally Rockwell RU. Many of their reels don't contain Mer on their label. Even some of the saltwater models like the RU Atlantic and RU Pacific. I believe Rockwell RU was the first to utilize a skirted spool and line clip and offer a factory manual PUM. RU utilized decals to identify the model and far too often they are partially or completely missing. It's completely missing on this one. Anyhow I been working on reels for 30 years or more and the RU is one of the best.
Mechanically: Reels well, antireverse and bail work well. Drag works good; but, not very smoothly.
